Mr Obama's big reveal came as he visited a school in Decatur, Georgia and weighed in on the challenges of parenting.
'I do have to warn the parents who are here, who still have young kids, they grow up to be, like five feet 10 inches. And even if they’re still nice to you, they basically don't have a lot of time for you during the weekends,' he said, according to ABC News.
'They have sleepovers and dates. So all that early investment just leaves them to go away,' he added.
Malia is the president's elder daughter. He and his wife Michelle also have an 11-year-old daughter, Sasha.
As rumors swirl about a possible suitor for Obama's first born, the Commander in Chief assured supporters that he had done his bit to romance his beloved of 20 years, Michelle, for the festival of love.

'I've already got a gift, got the flowers,' he told the crowd.
'I was telling folks, the flowers are a little easier, though, because I got this rose garden. A lot of people, you know, keeping flowers around,' he joked.
He had traveled down South to promote his new plan to provide universal access to pre-kindergarten programs, which he announced on Tuesday in his State of the Union Address.
Mr Obama only spent the early part of February 14 in Georgia, saying he had promised his wife 'to get back in time for our date tonight. That’s important.'
For Valentine's Day in 2012, Obama escorted his wife to dinner at Vermilion, a restaurant in Old Town, Alexandria, Va.
There was no word on where the lovers would spend the holiday this year.

Stepping up as a gentleman caller for the daughter of a U.S. president is a tall order.
The president has even joked it would take a brave soul to court one of his girls.
'I think that any young man who has got the guts to get through Secret Service deserves a hearing!' he said last November in an interview with Ryan Seacrest.
Mr Obama has said his wife oversees the Obama girls' social calenders.
'Michelle is very good about making sure that we're creating a space for them where they can have sleepovers. They can go to the mall. They can go to the movies,' he said.
'They're going to homecomings at their school.'
