Mariah Carey promised to hire extra security on Thursday after Nicki Minaj threatened to shoot her - and she was not exaggerating.
The singer arrived for American Idol auditions in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Friday with a police escort, several bodyguards and minders in tow.

The 42-year-old, who is a new judge on the panel alongside the rapper, country singer Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, lived up to her diva reputation as she strutted in for her day on set.
She was dressed to kill in a hot pink dress and high heels, diamond shaped drop earring and oversize sunglasses.
One burly bodyguard helped her keep her balance by holding onto her arm while another had the rather important task of shielding her from the sun with an umbrella.

She appeared rather uptight over the recent feud, constantly looking over her shoulder with a worried expression on her face.
Yesterday she warned she would be be taking extra safety measures because she is worried about the 29-year-old rapper's ‘unpredictable’ behaviour.
Mariah contacted chat show host Barbara Walters, who read out a statement on The View which revealed several staff members had heard Nicki quip: ‘If I had a gun I would shoot the b***h.’
Barbara related: ‘She said she is very concerned, she's with her twins, she doesn't feel that anything would happen, but Nicki is unpredictable and Mariah says she can't take a chance and has hired extra security.
Paranoid? But even with extra security she did not seem at ease
‘Nicki has not apologised, but they were together in meetings... during which Nicki said, “I love you, but we might fight again!”
‘Mariah said at this point she doesn't feel comfortable emotionally but she will continue with the show because she loves mentoring the contestants.’
The pop divas' catfight - which saw Nicki hurl a torrent of abuse at Mariah - was caught on camera and left everyone ‘shocked’ and ‘embarrassed’, but it seems the singers won't be calling a truce anytime soon.
Where is she? The star was constantly looking over her shoulder as she was led to where she needed to be
Nicki launched a Twitter war, accusing the singer of wanting a ‘pity party’ as well as bragging about being considered the best judge ‘since Simon’ (Cowell).
The rapper wrote in a series of furious tweets: ‘Tried to keep quiet but let's go!!!!
‘I thought we resolved it yesterday but I see u want ur pity party to continue. So I'm bout to po dot tea.
Taking no chances: She has warned that she would be coming to work with a strong team of minders
‘I don't call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave.
‘I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that nicki is the best judge we've had since simon. Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn.’
Fellow judge Urban also weighed in on the fight, joking he felt like ‘the UN’ caught in the middle of things.
Others though wondered why Mairah might even be going to work if she felt in such danger.
Rival talent show judge, The Voice's Cee Lo Green, pointed out that the show may be looking to ensure higher ratings but added that he is not worried about his own programme's performance.
He told TMZ: 'This is Hollywood, California. Hardly anything's legit. I'm not intimidated. I think it's entertainment for everybody.'
