Hello Mr. Fundi Kombo, Kwanza hongera kwa kazi nzuri unayoifanya kwenye hii blog yako. Also, thank you very much for bringing up this important and critical issue in African politics. Coalition government is quite common in countries such as Italy, Israel, Germany, Nordic, as well as Switzerland, a country which has been run by a four party coalition since 1959. Coalition governments are formed during crisis or when election results are disputed and remain unresolved as we have seen in Kenya, Israel, and Zimbabwe. A coalition government is often seen as a more democratic because not a single party has a majority, and therefore, brings check and balance inside the administration. Kwa upande wa Africa, hard to tell, Our political leaders are always motivated by greed, selfishness, nepotism and lack of patriotism. In short, no one care about a common man. If we look at the two newly coalition government in Africa; Kenya and Zimbabwe, you will find that they are all destined to fail. In Zimbabwe: Shaky coalitions in which Prime Minister Morgan Tsivangira’s senior party’s members are still in detention, and also a power sharing agreement where power is unequally shared between Muagabe and Tsivaangira. In Kenya, well its the same story, Politicians in that country only care about themselves rather than those who elected them. First of all, the government is too big with more than 90 ministers, deputy, secretary generals. Their salaries ni maradufu ya watu wanaowawakilisha bungeni, the culture of impunity is still rampant, those police who killed many innocent civilians during the 2007/8 election have not been brought to justice, millions of people suffer from hunger and malnutrition, and human rights violation against innocent civilians is still order of the day. Most African leaders lack vision, discipline and patriotism.
