THELUJI NEW YORK AND MASSACHUSETTS

Deluged: Although Winter Storm Juno failed to live up to its hype in New York City, it was a very different story in many parts of New England. Wind-driven seas caused severe flooding along some roadways in coastal Massachusetts including in Scituate (pictured)

Evacuation: US Army soldier Jennifer Bruno carries some belongings away from her house (center rear) that was severely damaged when 80-100 foot section of a Marshfield sea wall in Massachusetts collapsed on Tuesday, causing nearby streets and homes to flood
Upset: A crying Ms Bruno is hugged by her friend, Taylor Millar (left), after she was forced to leave her house due to water damage
Icy: A man walks his dog past an ocean-front house that is covered in ice during Storm Juno, which has not lived up to its forecast
Braving the snow: The man, who did not give his name, was donning a red woolly hat, a warm coast and sturdy shoes for the dog walk
Prepared for the weather: The area worst hit by Juno was the state of Massachusetts, which endured up to a huge 30 inches of snow in the town of Framingham, with wind gusts topping 75mph. Above, a snowmobiler drives along a street in Boston on Tuesday morning
Buried: This photo, showing a car is hidden under snow in a yard, was taken seven to eight hours into the blizzard in Massachusetts
No driving: Cars are pictured buried beneath drifted snow from Winter Storm Juno in Marlborough, Massachusetts, on Tuesday
Shoveling snow: Ryan Whitehead (left) shovels his driveway on Culter Street in Winthrop, Massachusetts, following overnight snow
Getting around: A woman is pictured cross-country skiing past a snow plow during the blizzard in Boston, Massachusetts, on Tuesday
Wrapped up: Total snow accumulation was expected to exceed two feet in most of Massachusetts, potentially making it one of the top snowstorms of all time. Above, a man walks down a snow-covered street in Winthrop as Winter Storm Juno continues to strike the area
A trio of Massachusetts children gather around a pipe amid snow (left) while a vehicle is completely buried in the white stuff (right)
Making the most of the weather: Will Adam, 14, snowboards down a street on Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts, on Tuesday
Storm: Juno, which hit the east coast of the US, is seen at peak intensity in a NOAA image taken from the Suomi NPP satellite over the New York and Boston regions at 1:45 am EST (06:45 GMT) on Tuesday. The storm dropped more than two feet of snow on some areas
Clearing up: The storm heaped more than a foot of snow on parts of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and New York state. Above, Glenn McNally uses a snow blower to clear the sidewalk in front of his home in Norwich, Connecticut
Daring to drive: A car slowly makes its way along the I-95 in New Haven, Connecticut, on Tuesday as Juno struck the eastern state
Safety measure: A switch heater is pictured in Devon, Connecticut. When switched on, it prevents snow and ice from accumulating on the switch where two sets of rails come together. The dark area in the center of the photo shows that the snow has been melted so that track switches will work properly. Switches are pieces of running rail that move, allowing trains to change from one track to another
Having fun: In New York City, millions had hunkered down for the 'historic' blizzard. However, it failed to live up to expectations. Above, Bianca Hillier (left), of Columbus, Ohio, and Eloise Pollard of London make snow angels at West 34th Street in New York on Tuesday
Braving the elements: A New Yorker walks through the city ahead of the storm, which did not escalate on Tuesday as expected
Not living up to its hype: A worker clears snow from the steps of Columbia University's Low Library in front of the statue of Alma Mater

Dyeing that girl right out of your hair? Wiz Khalifa colours his dreads bright purple after his estranged wife Amber Rose reveals pain caused by impending divorce

As his soon-to-be wife poured her heart out on social media on Wiz Khalifa decided to distract himself from the drama another way.

The 27-year-old spent most of the early hours of Tuesday morning bleaching and then dyeing his dreadlocks a bright shade of purple.

The rapper posted a series of photographs as his black hair was transformed by barber Tracy Love.

Felt like a change? Wiz Khalifa distracted himself from his marriage woes early Tuesday morning, dyeing his hair purple

Known for his fashion forward dress sense, the Black and Yellow hitmaker pushed the envelope further with his new look.

The first stage of the process - which he posted pictures of around 5am - saw the musician's hair turned white before a second layer of thick purple dye was applied.
In the half way picture, the We Dem Boyz Bash tattoo was clearly evident. The forehead ink is dedicated to his son Sebastian, 20 months - whose nickname is Bash.
Not an easy process: His barber Tracy Love had to bleach the 27-year-old's hair first
Purple Rain: The result was very striking, allowing the fashion foward star to push the style envelope further

Dubbing the finished look 'Purple Rain' after the song by Prince, the star seemed pretty happy with the results making the snap of the final product his Twitter profile picture.

As Wiz was using his social media to make fashion statement, his wife of just 14 months used hers to pour her heart out.

Amber took to Twitter Monday to explain how she is feeling since she filed divorce paper's against the father of her child late last month.
Father son day: Wiz's wife Amber Rose is petitioning for full custody of their son Sebastian, but the rapper and the toddler got some time together in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday

Taking to her Twitter page on Monday, the 30-year-old wrote: 'The mornings are especially hard.

'The pain...I wake up every morning feeling like my best friend died..... I never knew what a true heartache felt like until now.'

Amber had appeared to be putting the split - which was reportedly caused by the rapper cheating on his wife with twins - behind her, heading out to a number of parties over the last week.
Heartbroken: Although Amber seemed to be doing her best to move on from her marital woes with a series of nights out with her friends, pictured here Sunday, she has admitted she is heartbroken at the breakdown of the couple's union

Emotional posts: The 30-year-old took to Twitter on Monday, saying she feels like she has lost her best friend

Despite whispers the former stripper had moved on with both Nick Cannon and Nick Simmons, it appears she is still struggling to come to the grips with breaking up with the father of her child.

In her divorce filing, Amber has petitioned for full custody of Sebastian with Wiz to have visitation rights. Wiz has fought back however, filing for joint custody.

On Sunday, the rapper did have a chance to be with his young son, with the star seen cuddling the 20-month-old as they arrived home to his Los Angeles house.
Tongues wagging: On Thursday night the model was seen dancing with Nick Simmons and after he walked her to the car, many speculated they were dating but he has since denied this

Mother of Ebola patient Thomas Duncan drives 15 hours to pray by his isolation ward as doctors reveal he is showing slight improvement

He is showing improved liver function today, doctors said, but was still in a critical condition

Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan was showing improved liver function though he remains in critical condition, hospital officials said today, as he was visited by his elderly mother.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital released a statement on Tuesday saying Mr Duncan is on a ventilator and is receiving kidney dialysis.

The hospital said his liver function improved after declining over the weekend but warned that his condition could vary in the coming days.

His mother, Nowai Korkoya, arrived in Dallas today after being driven 15 hours by family members from her home in Charlotte, North Carolina to see her desperately ill son.

Nowai Korkoya prayed with family members and the Reverend Jesse Jackson on Tuesday.

Reverend Jackson revealed that the family had asked for his help and his aim was to make sure Mr Duncan was receiving the best possible care.

A prayer vigil will be held at the Dallas hospital tonight, Jackson said, as he spoke in Dallas on Tuesday alongside the mother, son and other relatives of the 42-year-old Ebola patient.

The civil rights leader also called on the public to show compassion to Duncan and his family, not to ostracize them.

Mr Duncan has been receiving doses of an experimental anti-viral drug since Saturday after his condition took a turn for the worse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

In a video message filmed for her son with NBC last week, Mrs Korkoya said: 'I love you. I pray for you to get well. My whole thinking is on you.'

Mr Duncan is receiving the drug Brincidofovir, which has shown promise in fighting the disease. The drug, developed by North Carolina-based Chimerix, is approved for the treatment of the herpes virus.

His doctors were granted permission by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to use the drug after his condition worsened.

The FDA grants emergency access to unapproved drugs on a case-by-case basis, usually when a patient faces a life-threatening condition for which there are no alternatives. The agency has not approved any drugs or vaccines to safely and effectively treat Ebola.

Mr Duncan was diagnosed with Ebola in Dallas last Tuesday after recently arriving from Liberia. He flew through Dulles International Airport in Virginia.

Two other experimental drugs developed specifically for Ebola have been used in American patients, though it's unclear if they had any effect.

The small supply of one drug, ZMapp, was exhausted after being used on a few patients.

A second drug, TKM-Ebola from Tekmira Pharmaceuticals, has been used in at least one patient and is said to be in limited supply.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are monitoring 48 people who came into contact with Mr Duncan while he was exhibiting Ebola symptoms.

None are showing signs of the virus which has develops between and one and 21 days after an individual has contact with the disease.

Ashoka Mukpo, the NBC News cameraman who was diagnosed with Ebola in Liberia last week, arrived on Monday at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, one of four special treatment centers for infectious diseases in the U.S.

Mr Mukpo is in the early stages of the disease, doctors said, and is set to receive an experimental treatment.
Mr Duncan's family members were seen arriving in Dallas, Texas on Monday to support him as he continues to fight Ebola in a quarantine unit at Texas Presbyterian hospital

Federal officials say they are confident they can stay on top of any more cases that arrive.
President Obama on Monday announced that his administration was working on ways to screen travelers for Ebola before they enter the U.S. in an effort to prevent any other people with the virus from entering the U.S.

Currently, travelers are only screened in West Africa before they leave the Ebola-stricken nations of Guinea, Sierra Leone or Liberia.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Monday that he is 'very confident' that America's largest city could quickly contain an outbreak of Ebola.

New York has had at least two Ebola scares from ill travelers from West Africa, but lab tests show the patients did not have the disease.

Turning the other cheek! Clear pictures of Nick Cannon's religious tattoo cover up of estranged wife Mariah Carey's name revealed for the first time Nick Cannon wants the world to know when it comes to his split from Mariah Carey, he has Jesus on his side.

The 33-year-old first showed a sneak peak of the very large tattoo he needed to cover up his existing ink of his soon-to-be ex's name last week, but on Monday in Los Angeles, California, the star's new addition was seen clearly for the first time - and it is a doozy.
With such huge lettering to cover - he got Mariah tattooed across the top of his back as a wedding present in 2008 - the only way to get rid of the tattoo was to go even bigger.

Oh Jesus! Nick Cannon's new ink covering up a tattoo of estranged wife Mariah Carey's name was seen clearly for the first time on Monday in Los Angeles, California

And bigger and bolder is certainly what the Drumline actor went for.

Stepping out shirtless after a workout at the gym, the new tattoo was revealed in all its religious glory.
While the huge detailed line drawing of Jesus on the cross, which stretches down his back, is hard to miss doing the real work to hide Mariah's name is the image of a dove.
Me time: The 33-year-old stepped out shirtless after a gym work out showing more than just his ripped body

With its wings outstretched from behind it explodes a heavily shaded pattern inspired by the way heavenly light is shown on stain glass windows.

While the curl on the end of the H is just visible, the heavy pattern distracts from it and completely obliterates the rest of the old tattoo.

So extensive is the work that it would have taken at least 10 gruelling hours in the tattoo artist's chair.
All gone: The tattoo features a huge line drawing of Jesus on the cross, while the image of a dove and a heavily patterned background obliterates the singer's name
The before: The 33-year-old got the original tattoo in 2008 just before his wedding to Mariah, the couple are seen here honeymooning in Barbados

Mariah will not face the same problem, as while she followed suit and also got inked up just prior to their wedding, the 44-year-old chose a much more subtle ink dedication with 'Mrs Cannon' vertically written in tiny letters on the thorax of a butterfly on her lower back.
But ten hours of pain appears to be a lot easier than the actual split between Nick and his hitmaker wife.

Despite announcing they had separated in August the couple - who share twins Moroccan and Monroe - are still at odds with Mariah accusing Nick of cheating in song on Saturday night.
Opening up: Two months since her split was revealed, the pop star, pictured with Trey Lorenz, broke her silence in song about why they called it quits on their six year marriage during her Tokyo concert on Saturday
Other things on her mind: The songstress looked in a great mood on Tuesday as she and her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, flew out of Narita Airport in Japan

While performing a cover of the Billie Holiday hit Don't Explain during her Japanese concert, the 44-year-old added her own very angry line

In a recording of the performance posted on YouTube by fan Roy Fernando the star can be heard singing, 'I know you cheated motherf***er!' around four and half minutes into the song.

Billie wrote Don’t Explain about her then-husband Jimmy Monroe when he came home with lipstick on his collar.
Love is not forever: The actor first revealed his extensive ink in a blurry video filmed while he partied at Playhouse Nightclub on Thursday in Hollywood
